Meet Latiema

Welcome to Mental Armor Psychiatric Services (MAPS) of NY and NJ! Protecting your mental health as you navigate the winding roads of life.

Latiema Merilus is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring that every individual seeking treatment feels heard, seen, and free from judgment. With nearly a decade of experience in psychiatric and addiction nursing acquired while working in some of the top hospitals and substance abuse recovery centers in New York and New Jersey, she brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to treating a wide range of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Her holistic approach to care, which encompasses focusing not just on symptoms but also on the social and environmental factors that contribute to mental health challenges, is what allows those she serves to feel empowered on their mental health journey. Latiema is a dedicated professional who graduated with honors from Rutgers University School of Nursing and earned a Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Wilkes University.
